Eligio’s yarn paintings hold profound spiritual significance, serving as Nierikas, or sacred doorways to the divine—each piece is a passage into the spiritual world as envisioned by the shaman.
Artist's Description: This is the symbol of the sacred water, part of the ancient ones, through which the Mara'akame brings forth the spirits of the people. It is only in spirit that the sacred water reveals itself, drawing the spirits of that place forward so they may be baptized. The Mara'akame follows their footprints until he finds them, leading them with candles and arrows so that they may be blessed.
