This one-of-a-kind yarn painting is crafted by the visionary Wixárika artist and mara-akame (shaman), Eligio Carrillo. Eligio’s yarn paintings hold profound spiritual significance, serving as Nierikas, or sacred doorways to the divine—each piece is a passage into the spiritual world as envisioned by the shaman.

Artist's Description: This is the nierika of the four cardinal points, where the Mara'akame blesses these sacred places with the magical power of Wiricuta. Here the pilgrims come to learn, for Wiricuta is the sacred temple where the visions of that holy place are revealed. It is there that Kauyumari dwells, guiding the pilgrims and blessing them all, once each year.
